We were commissioned to create an animation that clearly demonstrated the challenges caused by battery overuse in forklift fleets and how Philadelphia Scientific’s iBOS system helps address them. The animation showed how the system can streamline battery management, improve forklift availability and help industrial operations run more efficiently by keeping batteries and vehicles in use for longer.
Philadelphia Scientific wanted to clearly demonstrate the problems caused by inefficient battery use within busy forklift fleets and show how its iBOS battery management system provides a smarter solution.
The challenge was to take a relatively complex industrial process and communicate it in a simple and engaging way. The animation needed to show how poor battery rotation can lead to overuse, reduced battery life and forklift downtime, while clearly demonstrating how iBOS helps operators make better battery selections and improve overall fleet efficiency.
We created a bespoke 3D animated explainer video that demonstrated the iBOS system operating within a simplified stylised industrial environment.
Using clear animation we were able to transform a technical process into a clear visual story, allowing Philadelphia Scientific to communicate both how the system works and the operational benefits it can provide.
We worked with Philadelphia Scientific to understand the iBOS system, the challenges surrounding forklift battery management and the key benefits that needed to be communicated.
A storyboard was developed to establish the narrative, beginning with the problems caused by inefficient battery rotation before introducing iBOS and demonstrating how the system provides a more effective solution.
We developed a simplified 3D warehouse environment to provide context for the animation while keeping the focus firmly on the iBOS system and the battery management process. A clean, stylised visual approach removed unnecessary detail and made the forklifts, batteries and charging stations easy to identify throughout the animation.
Using a consistent, static camera viewpoint, we animated the forklifts, batteries and charging process to clearly demonstrate how the system works. Keeping the viewpoint fixed allowed the viewer to easily follow the movement of batteries and forklifts, helping simplify the process and clearly illustrate the difference between inefficient battery use and a more streamlined approach using iBOS.
The animation was designed to communicate the story visually without the need for voiceover, on-screen text or additional graphics. Carefully selected sound effects were used to reinforce the movement and activity within the warehouse, resulting in a simple, engaging animation that clearly demonstrated the process through visual storytelling alone.
