Elemac Technologies needed a video to explain the UPS of their new Flame Arrester Breather (FAB) valve product. This project had its challenges, having to simulate realistic CGI vapour, fire and explosions in and around the valve.

Challenge

Elmac Technologies had developed an innovative Flame Arrester Breather (FAB) Valve designed to protect tanks and process equipment from excessive pressure, vacuum conditions and atmospheric deflagrations. While the product delivered significant operational and safety benefits, communicating its functionality to customers presented a major challenge.

The FAB Valve operates in environments where vapour movement, pressure changes and explosion prevention occur inside industrial systems that are largely hidden from view. Traditional photography and live-action video could demonstrate the physical product but could not effectively explain how the valve protects equipment during hazardous operating conditions.

Elmac required a visual solution that would clearly demonstrate the product’s operation, highlight its key technical advantages and communicate complex engineering principles to engineers, plant operators, distributors and decision-makers within the industrial process sector.

Solution

We created a fully bespoke 3D product animation that combined photorealistic CGI, technical visualisation and advanced simulation effects to demonstrate the operation of the FAB Valve in realistic industrial scenarios.

Using detailed 3D modelling and animation techniques, we recreated the product and its surrounding operating environment, allowing viewers to see how the valve functions during normal operation and hazardous conditions. CGI simulations of vapour flow, ignition events and flame arresting performance were used to communicate the product’s protective capabilities in a clear and engaging way.

The final animation transformed a highly technical industrial product into an accessible visual story that could be used across exhibitions, sales presentations, digital marketing campaigns and technical demonstrations.

Process

Technical Discovery & Product Understanding

We worked closely with Elmac Technologies to understand the engineering principles behind the FAB Valve and identify the most important features to communicate within the animation. Particular attention was given to pressure relief, vapour management and flame arresting functionality.

3D Product Modelling

Accurate digital models of the FAB Valve were created using technical specifications and reference materials. Every component was carefully modelled to ensure the animation accurately reflected the physical product and its operation within industrial installations.

Simulation Development

One of the most challenging aspects of the project involved creating realistic simulations of vapour movement, fire behaviour and explosion events. Advanced CGI techniques were used to visualise processes that would otherwise be impossible to observe safely in a real-world environment.

Animation Production

The animation sequence was designed to explain the valve’s operation step by step. Camera movements, cutaway views and internal visualisations were used to reveal how the product responds during different operating conditions and protects tanks from potentially hazardous events.

Rendering & Post Production

The final scenes were rendered using high-quality CGI techniques before being enhanced with motion graphics, feature callouts and explanatory messaging. The completed animation was delivered in formats suitable for exhibitions, websites, presentations and sales activities.
